Lockdown won't let me log in!

If you install Lockdown and it asks for a password prompt but won't accept your passwords there are few things you can check.

  1. You may have mistakenly installed the lockdown page. Often times if you drag the path name over in the alternate install step if that's wrong it can cause this problem. Try a second time to see if the problem persists or not (believe it or not this fixes the problem probably 50% of the time)
  2. Your server may need the other form of authentication -- run the server test ( http://loghound.com/lockdown/FAQ/servertest/index.php ) It will tell you if your server requires any special settings.
  3. Make sure you don't have the same user in twice (e.g. the user names need to be unique) -- If you duplicate usernames it can confuse the servers

It's also possible that your web host is configured in a way that lockdown can't sort out. Lockdown is pretty good at trying to sort these things out but it's possible to be confused. In this case the best option is to ask the support team at your webhost to look at the lockdown folder and ask them 'I think I'm doing everything correctly but it's not working -- can you tell me what is wrong?'
